Wall of Ideas

  • When Medline moved into a new headquarters, they wanted the space to feel fresh, energized, and reflective of the company’s innovation. I was asked by the VP of Creative to design a large-scale wall graphic that would bring that vision to life—while visually representing all major divisions across the organization, including gloves, retail, respiratory, primary care, personal care, and logistics. The direction was clear: the design needed to feature blue as the primary color, capture the spirit of the brand, and make a strong visual impact.

  • The concept needed to be visually dynamic, cohesive across departments, and spatially precise. After presenting a hand-drawn sketch that was approved by both the VP and the President of Medline, I focused on developing a structure that could hold both movement and meaning. The goal was to create a visual flow that grounded the divisions while adding rhythm and energy to the wall itself.

  • I began by building a detailed dieline that accounted for every architectural variable—outlets, trim, doorways, windows, even the curve of the wall. The flowing “swoosh” lines became the base of the design, vectorized in Illustrator with careful alignment. From there, I constructed each individual illustration using custom textures, clipping paths, and transparencies. Every element was built with precision, knowing that even the smallest error would be amplified at full scale.

I chose a handwritten-style font for the copy—organic, expressive, and subtly textured to match the illustrations. It added a human touch to the wall’s message and helped ground the energy with intention.

  • This was the largest and most complex vector project I’ve ever created. It tested my planning, precision, and patience—and pushed my Illustrator skills further than ever before. Along the way, I learned valuable lessons in file optimization and process efficiency, which I’d apply differently next time. But despite the technical hurdles, the final piece is something I’m deeply proud of: a wall that doesn’t just fill a space, but reflects the people and purpose inside it.
